hello sand thanx for the answer but can u justify that maximum gain of the nmos and pmos is in the saturation region?

gain = Gm * Ro Gm => Device Transconductance Ro => Output Resistance In the Ids Vs Vds curve, slope gives conductance or 1 / Ro. (Slope formula => m =y2 -y1/x2 -x1) => dIds/dVds) Therefore , slope = 1/Ro = (also equal to lambda, channel length modulation factor) In saturation region, slope is '0', therefore Ro is infinity. Thus gain is maximum. mfk
In mos amplifier, gain depends on the maximum change in current for a given change in input voltage. This occurs when the transistors are in saturation, as I is proportional to (vgs-vt)^2 as opposed to linear proportionality in the linear region. Hope this helps.
