capacitor

hello friends if in a circuit only a capacitor and a battery is present.energy stored by capacitor will be cv^2/2,but battery has supplied cv^2.where the rest cv^2/2 has went, there is no resistance in the circuit.

Hi, Good question but wrong conception. The energy stored in capacitor is 1/cv^2 thats true.but total energy supplied is not cv^2 but the same 1/2cv^2. both the supply and the capacitor is connected parallel so the voltages shd be one and the equal.i so the voltage at the supply is Vc which raises from 0 to Vsupply(as the capacitor charges) so energy= integral (Vc.c.dvc) which is 1/2 Vc^2 C. in short InParallel ckts the voltage is same and that is of the minimum of the both. bye
