slack-amnt of time(difference) by which the max or min delays, that are required for correct operation, are met. e.g a processor which can be clocked at a max of 200mhz(with all the cooling) but clocked at 150mhz will have +ve setuptime slack which is good and we will be on safest side.but the same processor clocked at 250 mhz will cramp the ffs for setup times this is -ve slack for setup time which results in malfunctioning. In short the difference between the actual and circuit timings is slack.
